From the Heart

If you have ever been to Haiti, you would have met Delva. We met Delva when he was 13 years old at a feeding program in our community. We quickly realized that there was something different and special about this boy. He started living with us in April 2014. While he is the oldest boy in the house, he is compassionate, responsible and reserved young man. He is a role model to others in the home in attitude and work ethic.

Haiti as not been exempt from the latest events in our world. Recently, Delva posted a prayer on his own IG. We wanted to share this prayer with you today. May you feel the love of God today as you read this young man’s heartfelt prayer for a hurting world.

“My prayer for this morning after reading the word of God:…”Lord, Help Us Be strong When Bad Things Happen.”

“Lord, help me to remember that no matter what bad things or times the world might go through, or what kind of dark clouds settle on my life, You are our Comforter. Only You can lift us above the storm and into Your presence. Only you can take whatever loss we experience and fill that empty place with good. Only you can take the burden of my grief and pain and bring something positive out of it. “Hear us when we call. O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; have mercy on me, and hear my prayer” (psalm 4:1).”

“When I go through tough times, I pray that I will have a greater sense of Your presence with me. I want to grow stronger in these times and not weaker. We want to increase in faith and not be overcome with doubt. We want to have hope in the middle of them and not become hopeless. God, may this world want to stand strong in Your truth and not be swept away by emotions. Help us to remember to give thanks to You no matter what is happening because You are greater than anything we are facing. I know when we pass through the waters, You will be with us and the river will not overflow us. When we walk through the fire we will not be burned, nor will the flame touch us. That’s because You are a good God and have sent Your Holy Spirit to be our Comforter and Helper. Thank you that you will fill us with joy and peace so that we will “abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:12). And God, I believe you will protect each of the families. In Jesus’ name I pray.”🙏🏾🙌🏾
