Orphan Cycle

There is an epidemic known as the “Orphan Cycle” plaguing many developing countries such as Haiti. Many orphaned children are children of orphans themselves. These children develop the mindset that being abandoned is “a part of life” and treat their children the same way. They grow up and identify with the orphan spirit of rejection, and in turn, reject their own. It is very difficult for them to give love and acceptance to children if they themselves have never had it. Furthermore, many children are seen as burdens and left on the streets to fend for themselves. Being the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, poverty is a major contributor to this destructive cycle.
