
Haiti was the first nation of African descent to win their independence, but have since struggled to maintain a stable economic or governmental infrastructure. Without a solid foundation to build on, they have relied on outside relief and aid for many years. This, coupled with catastrophic natural disasters, has led to a victim mentality among the people. With the majority of Haitians living on less than $2 USD per day, there is very little investment into the success and dreams of the next generation. Small businesses of ambitious men and women entrepreneurs, and the tuition of aspiring students and professionals are not priorities.
